K.L. Nappier is an award winning author who has been writing for over 20 years. Regardless of how light or dark her plots may be (though she confesses they’re usually dark), she’s exploring how the human experience can lift us up, give us hope, teach us how.

Kathy writes in multiple genres. Her first published novel, Shadows in the Mist, was released under The Berkley Publishing Group's Diamond imprint in the early '90's. The Gothic Journal called her debut novel "stunning" and "fresh" with suspense that "is razor sharp."

By Kathy's own admission, "it was a 'pot boiler.' Don't get me wrong, I'm as proud of Shadows as any. But it was something I hammered out because that's what my agent said Berkley was looking for. When I got that first contract, I thought my career had really begun and I'd be writing steady. Well, I wrote steady all right  ... but it was over ten years before I got published again. One agent after another told me I should try to write like whoever was 'in' at the time. And believe me, I wasn't too proud to try. But I'm a lousy mimic. My timing was lousy, too. Except for Shadows, by the time any of my plots and proposals made it through, the [publishing] houses were going after a different trend."

Fed up with chasing after the next big thing, Kathy decided to heed the simple advice that acclaimed literary novelist Elizabeth Arthur gave her years before ... "write what you like." Two agents and many years later, it was beginning to look to Kathy as if Shadows in the Mist would be her first and last hurrah.

She continued to write, but also got on with the rest of her life. Then, in the late '90's, she and her husband sold "everything but the dog" and left the midwest:

"After my stepsons Matthew and Nicholas flew the nest, my husband Richard and I left Indianapolis, Indiana, for a four year sabbatical. We bought a sailing sloop and collected terrific friends, wonderful memories and great book material as we toured parts of the Caribbean. We’re now permanently settled in Florida, where I’ve set up my computer and haven’t stopped writing since."

She began submitting her work again, this time through writing contests. Double Dragon Publishing (DDP), an independent publisher based in Canada, took notice. Her supernatural thriller, Full Wolf Moon placed in DDP's Draco Awards’ Final Three in the Horror Division, placed in the Kay Snow Awards and was a finalist in the New Century Awards, along with another of her novels. She is a contributing author to the online bestseller Twisted Tails Anthology, a 2006 Dream Realm Award Winner, and her paranormal mystery/adventure, Voyagers, is critically acclaimed. Most recently Full Wolf Moon’s sequel, Bitten, has been released by DDP and is enjoying early postive reviews. All her titles are available in both trade paperback and ebook.

Her work has been reviewed by the Gothic Journal as "stunning" and "fresh", with suspense that "is razor sharp." The Eternal Night Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Web Site calls Voyagers "original and totally addictive." Scribes World calls Full Wolf Moon "amazing." NightsAndWeekends says Bitten is "a novel that grabs you from the beginning and won't let go."
